How We Rate
Every player in the Build a Squad database is rated across 15 attributes: Shooting, Passing, Dribbling, Vision, Defending, Physical, Speed, Strength, Agility, Stamina, Handling, Positioning, Heading, Clutch, and Set Pieces. Each attribute is scored on a scale of 8–99.
Our ratings are informed by publicly available performance data from sources like Transfermarkt and FBref — tournament statistics, match reports, and advanced metrics. However, the rating methodology is entirely original. We don't import or replicate any third-party rating system. Each attribute is independently calibrated to reflect what made that legend special in their specific World Cup campaign, designed for competitive draft balance rather than pure historical ranking.
The Overall Rating (OVR) is a weighted composite of all 15 attributes, with positional relevance factored in. A goalkeeper's Handling carries more weight than their Shooting; a striker's Positioning matters more than their Defending.
